Calhoun's state record winning streak in region games, ended last week by North Murray, has been reported as 119 and 139. Which is correct? Both. Calhoun won 119 consecutive games that counted in the region standings and 139 games against all region opponents in regular-season games. Calhoun played 20 games against teams in the opposite subregion that didn't count in the standings, six that were region championship games. Here are the streaks of 40 games or more using both definitions. McEachern won 102 games that count in the region standings from 1986 to 1999. That ranks second all-time to Calhoun. But McEachern lost to Alexander in a 1994 game when they were members of opposite subregions.
