Milton is ranked No. 6 in preseason, making the Eagles one of 25 defending state champions since 1982 to be ranked outside the top five in the opening poll of the next season. Milton is the first defending champion in the highest classification to be ranked lower than No. 5 since Norcross in 2014. Norcross finished 7-4 that season.
