How the game was won: Kell's regular season win streak of 28 games was snapped by a dominating defensive effort by Lassiter, which has emerged 2-0 this season after a dreadful 2014 season. Lassiter's defense gave up 47.1 points per game last season, but after was able to hold Kell to zero offensive points. Kell scored on a safety and an interception return for a touchdown by Solon Page III in the third quarter. Junior Mason Waters got the Lassiter offense going in the first half with a 20-yard touchdown run but it was a huge completion from Cooper Cross to Cole Taylor that kept Lassiter out in front. With the third quarter winding down, Cross hit Taylor for a 66-yard gain before the duo finished the drive off with a 12-yard touchdown. Cross found Cervantes Holt on the 2-point conversion and Lassiter took a 15-9 lead. Dorian McNeal ran in a Lassiter touchdown to build the lead to 21-9 and Kyle Syvarth iced the game with a 51-yard interception return for a touchdown.
Top Performers: Lassiter's Kyle Syvarth (51 yards) and Kell's Solon Page III (11 yards) both returned interceptions for touchdowns. … Lassiter's Cooper Cross threw the only touchdown pass of the game to Cole Taylor from 12 yards out. … Lassiter's Mason Waters and Dorian McNeal both rushed for touchdowns.
