The M.L. King girls rallied past Chamblee 41-35 to grab their first win of the season, coming at the DeKalb Pre-Holiday Tournament at Arabia Mountain High School. Chamblee led 28-26 entering the fourth quarter before the Lions outscored the Bulldogs 15-7 in the final quarter. Chamblee pulled off a major upset over Columbia (38-36) earlier this month and opened the tourney with wins over Druid Hills and Rockdale County before falling to the Lions.

Chuck Miller Classic: The Monticello girls fell in lopsided defeats to South Paulding and Washington but ended the Classic with a 32-26 victory over Creekside on Tuesday. The Canes took a 29-16 lead into the fourth quarter and cruised in the final frame. Morgan Stokes continues to pace the Monticello offense with 13 points per game. The South Paulding girls rebounded from a 64-62 Monday loss to host Henry County and topped ELCA 58-54 to wrap up the Chuck Miller Classic with a 2-1 record. ELCA finished 1-2 after topping Eagle's Landing 62-54 on Saturday and falling 67-63 to Therrell on Monday.
On the boys’ side, Washington limped into the Chuck Miller Classic with a 3-7 record but improved to 5-8 on the season with a solid 59-43 victory over ELCA on Tuesday. Washington topped Monticello 69-59 on Monday and dropped an 88-70 battle to host Henry County on Friday. With the loss to Washington, ELCA finishes the Chuck Miller Classic 1-2. The Chargers opened the Classic with a 91-52 loss to Eagle’s Landing on Saturday but rebounded to score a dramatic 77-71 overtime victory over Therrell Monday.
