The sectional tournaments were completed and the field of 16 teams in each classification have been determined. That means the final field has been set for the state golf tournaments, which will be played on May 16.
The tournament for the Class AAAAAA boys and girls will be played in Moultrie and Tifton. All other tournaments will be contested in the Augusta area.
Here’s who made it through the sectional tournaments:
Class AAAAAA boys: Lambert shot a 293 to win the sectional at Sunset Country Club in Moultrie and lead a group of eight qualifiers. Andrew Yowell of Walton shot 66 to medal and help his team finish third. Qualifying for state: Lambert, Alpharetta, Walton, Harrison, Milton, Colquitt County, Lowndes, Collins Hill.
Class AAAAAA girls: Peachtree Ridge won the sectional with a 249, which was two shots better than Woodstock, at Spring Hill Country Club in Moultrie. Qualifying for state: Peachtree Ridge, Woodstock, Johns Creek, Walton, Valdosta, Alpharetta, Mountain View, South Forsyth, Parkview.
Class AAAAA boys: Cambridge shot a 285 to beat McIntosh in the sectional at Georgia National. Qualifying for state: Cambridge, McIntosh, Northgate, Ola, Lakeside Evans, Evans, Creekview and Harris County.
Class AAAAA girls: Ware County shot 265 and beat Gainesville by two shots in the sectional at Herron Bay. Qualifying for state: Ware County, Gainesville, Cambridge, Lakeside Evans, Northgate, Union Grove, Northside Columbus, Camden County and Houston County.
Class AAAA boys: North Hall emerged as the winner with a 302 and posted a six-shot win over Carrollton at Achasta Golf Club. Hunter Courtney of Cairo and Matthew Voight of Spalding tied as medalist with 72. Qualifying for state: North Hall, Carrollton, St. Pius, Heritage Catoosa, Buford, Pickens, Northwest Whitfield, Spalding.
Class AAA girls: Savannah Satterfield of North Murray shot a 74 to lead her team to the sectional win at Indian Trace Golf Club. Qualifying for state: North Murray, Jefferson, Sonoraville, Brantley County, Jackson County, Southeast Bulloch, Banks County, Lumpkin County, Gordon Central.
Class A Public boys: Commerce shot 373 to beat Georgia Military by nine shots and win the sectional at Pine Hills Golf Club. Thad Clark of Schley County was medalist with a 79. Qualifying for state: Commerce, Georgia Military, Lincoln County, Schley County.
Class A Public girls: Claxton won the sectional tournament with a 213 at Georgia Veterans. Laney Aycock of Lincoln County medaled with a 101. Qualifying for state: Claxton, Echols County, Charlton County, Hawkinsville.
Class A Private boys: First Presbyterian shot a 304 for a four-shot win in the sectional at the University of Georgia Golf Course. Qualifying for state: First Presbyterian, North Cobb Christian, Athens Academy, Stratford Academy.
Class A Private girls: First Presbyterian shot 190 and won the tournament by six shots at Lane Creek Golf Course. Qualifying for state: First Presbyterian, Our Lady of Mercy, St. Anne-Pacelli, Eagle's Landing Christian.
Note: There were no sectionals in Class AA, for the Class AAA boys or the Class AAAA girls.
