Three teams picked up their first wins of the season Friday.

New Hampstead defeated Glascock County, 27-20. It was the first win in program history for the new school located in Bloomingdale.

Pike County knocked off Riverdale, 21-19, ending the Pirates’ six-game losing streak that date back to last season.

Redan topped Chamblee, 18-13, for the Raiders’ first win. Redan went 1-9 last season.

Setting the stage: First-place in Region 6-AAAA will be on the line, when Marist hosts St. Pius X this week. Both teams are undefeated in region play. St. Pius won the last two meetings in 2009 and 2008, but Marist has dominated the series. The Golden Lions rushed for 394 yards and attempted only one pass in a 34-20 win over Columbia on Friday. The Golden Lions got two touchdown runs from Dalton Wilson and led 31-0 early in the third quarter. Marist rolled over Lithonia, 33-6, Friday to improve to 6-0. The War Eagles have outscored their last five opponents 206-13.

Domination: Class AAAA No. 1 Buford blew out Chestatee, 54-7, on Friday for its 30th consecutive win. Xavier Gantt and Joshua Thomas each scored two touchdown for the Wolves (5-0, 2-0 Region 7-AAAA). Buford's next two opponents, North Hall and Monroe Are, are a combined 0-10.

Big performance: Pickens running back Shannon Brooks rushed for 246 yards and four touchdowns in a 35-7 win over Northwest Whitfield. Brooks now has 1,154 yards and 16 touchdowns on 100 carries.

Big win: The Howard Huskies (3-2-1) tied the school record for wins in dramatic fashion. Courvoisier King threw a touchdown pass to Alphonso Stephens as time expired in a 20-14 win over Perry. The Huskies scored two touchdowns in the final five minutes of the game to stun the Panthers, according to the Macon Telegraph.
