Friday night recap: Week 5

Sept 17, 2016

Class AA football didn't feature any upsets among the ranked teams, though No. 3 Brooks County survived a scare from AAA's Pierce County for a 33-28 comeback win. The Trojans (3-0) trailed by a touchdown at halftime before reversing their fortune.

There was one ranked team that lost - The No. 10 Dodge County Indians. However, with a 1-2 record heading into their game against A-public's winless Dooly County (0-3), it's hardly considered an upset that the Indians lost and more of a case that they probably shouldn't have been in this week's rankings to begin with. Dooly County won 34-25, likely making it the last the rankings hear of the Indians.

One candidate to replace Dodge County is the Temple Tigers, who moved to 4-0 with a 35-7 win over Loachapoka (Alabama).

The No. 9 Vidalia Indians (3-1) rebounded from their loss to West Laurens with a 28-6 win over Metter in their Region 2 debut. Whether the Indians' win is enough to leapfrog them over No. 8 Dublin - the Fighting Irish were on a bye - remains to be seen, but the Indians initially dropped a spot in the rankings on their bye before their only loss.

Here's how the rest of the top 10 fared:

On bye: No. 6 Rabun County; No. 8 Dublin.
