GHSF Daily asked Georgia head coaches to answer these four questions. We'll report from a different head coach each day.
Korey Mobbs, Lanier
1. What is the most memorable game you've been a part of as a player or coach? "State championship game 1997, my junior year at Parkview. Unbelievable atmosphere. We played Tift County. The neatest part was that it was at home. We were fortunate enough to win. I think we threw the ball three times." [Parkview won 21-7 for the Class AAAA title.]
2. Which high school coach would you want your son to play for, and why? "Billy Wells, former head coach at Collins Hill and Lanier, current athletic director at North Hall High School. I have a 3-year-old son, so we are a ways away from playing, but the thing I respect the most about Billy Wells was his consistency and determination to give every single team member a positive high school football playing experience while teaching life lessons that players can take with them far beyond the game itself."
3. What is your favorite saying/motto? "Show class, have pride, and display character. If you do, winning takes care of itself." - Bear Bryant
4. Which GHSA policy or high school football rule would you most like to see changed? "I would like for us to create some sort of consistency in how the play clock is officiated. A school gets used to their regular-season crew, and come playoff time a new crew may have totally different mechanics about setting the ball for play. The teams should be able to dictate the pace of the game and not the crew officiating."
