GHSF Daily asked Georgia head coaches to answer these four questions. We'll report from a different head coach each day.
Justin Rogers, Jones County
1. What is the most memorable game you've been a part of as a player or coach? "Griffin, the state championship game versus Carrolton. Nothing compares to walking off the field a champion." [Rogers was the offensive coordinator for Griffin's 56-35 victory over Carrollton in the 2013 Class AAAA championship game.]
2. Which high school coach would you want your son to play for, and why? "Steve Devoursney. He is without a doubt the hardest-working head coach I have ever seen, no job too small. And he cares so much about all of his players. He was a great role model to all of us that were his assistant coaches. If you look at his coaching tree, a lot of good head coaches were developed as assistants under Devo." [DeVoursney, currently coach at Cairo, was head coach at Griffin from 2001 to 2013.]
3. What is your pet peeve as a coach or favorite saying/motto? "You are either coaching it or letting it happen. Either way, it's your fault. I can't stand coaches who continue to say, 'I told him.'"
4. Which GHSA policy or high school football rule would you most like to see changed? "I would like to be able to play a spring game versus another team."
