GHSF Daily asked Georgia head coaches to answer these four questions. We'll report from a different head coach each day.

Rodney Cofield, Douglass

1. Who is/was the most influential person in your coaching career? "Coach Willie Hunter was my head football coach in high school. He was the one who guided me and protected me from the streets of Southeast Atlanta. I'm an educator and coach because of him.  Also, he works for me now as a coach." [Cofield was a 5-foot-3 quarterback on Hunter's 1982 and 1983 region championship teams at Fulton High School.]

2. Who is the best Georgia player you ever faced? "The best player I ever coached was Nick Turner, a Parade All-American, and the best player I coached against was James Davis, another Parade All-American. The reason? Speed, speed and speed. Very talented. Had great vision and hands." [Turner played at Washington, and Davis played at Douglass.]

3. What is the best team you ever faced as a coach? "Marist because of their discipline and consistency in what they do as a program. Twenty-five years later, they still are one of the most successful programs in state."

4. If you were Gary Phillips, the new head of the GHSA, what would be the first rule that you would try to change? "Change gate sharing or revenue sharing between the schools and the GHSA. Consider making a public and private division in other classifications such as Class A does."
