GHSF Daily asked Georgia head coaches to answer these four questions. We'll report from a different head coach each day.
Maurice Freeman, Brooks County
1. What is the most memorable game you've been a part of as a player or coach?"Three years ago we lost three young men on a very talented Brooks County team. We call them the BC3. Our players rallied together and promised to play their very best in their honor. We went on to play 14 great games that year." [The BC3 - Jicarre Watkins, Johnnie Parker, and Shawn Waters - died in a car crash in July while returning from a summer workout. Brooks County finished 12-2 and lost to eventual champion Lovett in the Class AA semifinals.]
2. Which high school coach would you want your son to play for, and why?"My only son [Maurice Jr., now 25] is autistic. Every father wants to see his son play football. I would have loved to coach my own son. Just to have something in common with him would have been great."
3. What is your favorite saying/motto?"You gotta Bring that Hammer."
4. Which GHSA policy or high school football rule would you most like to see changed?"The bylaw has been changed. Now we can have an opponent for spring games. [The GHSA will allow spring football games starting in 2017.]
