Woodward Academy star senior running back Elijah Holyfield, one of the state’s top recruits, sat out the season-opener against Decatur with what’s being described as a “minor injury" by the War Eagles’ staff.  The type of injury or his status for Friday's game at St. Pius were not revealed.

Holyfield, the son of former boxing champions Evander Holyfield and a 2015 AJC Super 11 selection, has offers from all the national powers. According to 247sports.com, Auburn and Georgia are the favorites to land Holyfield.

Woodward Academy quarterback Ryan Glover threw a touchdown pass and ran for a score in the second-ranked War Eagles’ opening 34-7 win over Decatur in the season opener.
