Marist coach Alan Chadwick reached the milestone of 300 delta wins last week in his team's victory over Chestatee. What's a delta win? Well, that's wins minus losses. Chadwick's record is 369-69. Only Larry Campbell (477-85-3) has more than 300 delta wins in state history. Only 25 GHSA coaches have attained even 150 delta wins. You can discover that list here. According to GHSFHA founder Loren Maxwell, delta wins are a good measure of a coach's success that captures both total wins and winning percentage in a simple calculation. No Georgia coach with 150 delta wins has a winning percentage below .700. Who are the only other active Georgia coaches with 150 or more delta wins? Hint: Their records are 284-77-2 and 230-51. Answer to Wednesday's question: T. McFerrin, announced this week as a 2019 inductee into the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame, led a state-record five schools to the state semifinals or better. They are Jefferson (2012), Elbert County (1995), Peachtree (1980-81-82), Lithonia (1969) and Forest Park (1971). McFerrin led seven schools to region titles and quarterfinals - those five, plus South Gwinnett (2003) and Tucker (1989).
