Lassiter has opened the 2015 season with victories over reigning region champions Hillgrove (4-AAAAAA) and Kell (7-AAAAA). That's a remarkable feat, but not as rare as one might think. Below are the 26 teams that have beaten defending Georgia region champions in their first two games. Two of them (2013 Coffee and 2014 Westminster) went on to beat a third straight defending region champion. Lassiter has one more defending region champion on its schedule. That would be Milton of 5-AAAAAA on Sept. 11.
