Our Spotlight story focused on teams with first-year coaches who have made great progress. Here are the most-improved teams overall, according to the computer Maxwell Ratings. More specifically, these are the teams that are exceeding Maxwell's preseason expectations, which were based on each team's historical scores and trends. It's not solely based on winning games. Just being more competitive week in and week out also counts for a lot. Or it could be a good team that's now better. Colquitt County, for example, has gone from a three-loss team to getting Top 10 national rankings and reversing a loss last year against Hoover, Ala.
