In a remarkable coincidence, two of the nine longest losing streaks against one opponent in state history ended Friday just 15 miles apart in east Georgia in the same Region 7-A when Warren County defeated Lincoln County 28-21 in Lincolnton, and Hancock Central beat Washington-Wilkes 28-21 in Washington. Warren County had lost 43 consecutive games to Lincoln County, last winning in 1971. Hancock Central had lost 27 straight to Washington-Wilkes dating to 1981. Here are the longest losing streaks to one opponent in GHSA history. The years in parentheses indicate when a streak ended. Others are active. The dominant team in the series is on the left.
