Brett Garvin has been on Sandy Creek's staff for 16 seasons, three state titles and four future NFL players, including Calvin Johnson. The 38-0 victory over Creekside, though sweet, was not the school's best victory. But Garvin will remember it fondly. It was his first game as a head coach. "The kids came out and played with intensity and heart," Garvin said. "I am very proud to be a part of such a special group of guys." Garvin was one of 13 Georgia heads coaches who got the first victories of their careers last week.
