Twenty-one Georgia teams repeated as region champions this season. Mill Creek, Houston County, Dawson County and Pinecrest Academy won their first region titles. Jonesboro (4-AAAA) broke the longest drought, winning its first region championship since 1949. The 66 years between titles is a state record previously held by Milton (1952-2014). Answer to Friday's question: Tift County and Valdosta were the last 9-0 teams from Region 1 of the highest classification to play each other in the final game of the regular season. Valdosta, the defending Class AAAA champion, won the game, but Tift avenged the loss two weeks later and went on to win a state title.
