There were no upsets or even close, interesting games to speak of among the ranked AA teams on Friday. However, two teams did claim a region championship.

In a critical Region 5 game, the No. 2 Callaway Cavaliers topped defending state champions Heard County, 34-0, to claim the Region 5 championship. The Cavs are 8-1, 5-0.

Also, the No. 10 Thomasville Bulldogs claimed Region 1, defeating Berrien 67-23 to move to 5-4, 3-0.

Here’s how the rest of the top 10 faired:

  • The top-ranked Rockmart Yellow Jackets moved to 8-0, 5-0 in 7-AA after beating Coosa 60-7. The Rome News-Tribune has details.
  • The No. 3 Dublin Fighting Irish rolled to a 56-21 win over Northeast in Region 3 to improve to 8-0, 5-0.
  • In Region 6, the No. 4 Hapeville Charter Hornets beat KIPP Atlanta 40-0. The Hornets are 6-1-1, 5-0.
  • The No. 5 Rabun County Wildcats beat Social Circle 61-20 to move to 8-0, 5-0 in 8-AA. AccessWDUN has details.
  • In a key Region 2 matchup, the No. 6 Swainsboro Tigers topped Vidalia 21-9 to all but clinch the league title. They are 7-1, 4-0. Southeast Georgia Today has a game story.
  • The No. 8 Union County Panthers beat Oglethorpe County 43-0 to move to 8-0, 5-0 in Region 8. AccessWDUN has details.
  • In Region 3, the No. 9 Washington County Golden Hawks beat Southwest 65-22 to move to 6-2, 3-1.
  • On bye: No. 7 Bleckley County
