Ever since Holy Innocents’ upset four-time defending private champ Eagle’s Landing Christian, 42-41 in overtime, back on September 20, it was bound to happen.

This week the undefeated Bears (8-0, 5-0 in Region 5) finally overtook the Chargers for the top spot in the private school power ratings. ELCA (7-1, 4-1) dropped one spot to No. 2.

Meanwhile, Irwin County regained the No. 1 spot from Clinch County in the public power ratings.

Of Note: Holy Innocents' is now just two wins away from its securing its first undefeated regular season in program history, from winning its first region title since 2009, and possibly, from claiming the top seed in the private power ratings. However, that will be difficult considering the dismal records of the Bears' last two opponents – Landmark Christian (2-6) and Our Lady of Mercy (0-8). Waiting in the wings to possibly claim that No. 1 seed are four teams that are also undefeated: No. 3 Darlington (8-0), No. 5 Savannah Country Day (8-0), No. 6 Athens Academy (8-0), and No. 8 Fellowship Christian (8-0).
