Henry County’s 18-game win streak was snapped last Friday as Druid Hills held off the host Warhawks 58-53. Back on Jan. 21, Henry County was able to overcome a slow start to rally past Riverwood 45-38, but not this time. The Warhawks managed just six points in the first quarter and trailed 38-37 entering the fourth—where they were outscored 20-16. Leading scorer Wisdom Uboh was out with an injury for a second straight game, but a dissatisfied coach BJ Thomas stated after the game, “No excuses. [We] Gotta be better.”

The team was scheduled to close its regular season Tuesday against Eastside, but Winter Storm Jayden forced a cancellation and moved the action to this Thursday.

Unlike Henry County, Region 4-AAAA’s Woodward Academy is trending upwards. The War Eagles defeated Salem 66-57 on Saturday and then opened this week by cruising past Luella 74-49.

Sandy Creek won big 85-53 on Saturday. Big-man TJ Bickerstaff posted another all-state performance and finished with a game-high 25 points to go with his eight rebounds and five assists.

Thomson rallied back from an 11-point deficit to defeat Baldwin 56-54 on Saturday and grab hold of the top spot in Region 3-AAAA. Aubrey Ivery (16), Fredrick Parker (11) and Malcom Daniels (10) each scored in double-figures to pace the Bulldogs.

On the girls side, No. 1 Carver-Columbus defeated Cairo 94-31 on Friday and scored an 89-28 win over Northside-Columbus on Saturday to improve to 25-0 on the year.

Second-ranked Henry County won convincingly in an 81-22 win over Druid Hills and defending state champion Spalding was a 50-44 winner over West Laurens.
