Westlake’s Najae Butler was the medalist and Newnan was the team champion at the Area 2-AAAAAA tournament.
Butler shot a 75 and beat Newnan’s Courtney Lewis by three shots.
Newnan also county a 105 from MacKenzie Teal and a 106 from Mason Kendrick in qualifying for the state tournament. East Coweta was the other qualifier, getting an 86 from Autumn Brown, a 95 from Emma Dietz and a 109 from Caison Byars.
Caroline Poston of Marietta shot 90 and qualified for state as an individual.
Class AAAAA
Area 2 boys: Medalist Andrew Crockett shot a 70 to lead Starr’s Mill to the win. Palmer Wilson, Hunter Hester and Luke Ninneman each added a 73 for the Panthers, who shot 289.
Also qualifying for state were: Ola, led by Keith Watkins at 72 and Jackson Schultz at 73; McIntosh, led by Jackson Lawlor at 71 and Stefan Blain at 73; and Jones County , led by Stokely Durden at 76. Adam Ford of Union Grove and Luke Hutchinson of Whitewater qualified as individuals.
Class AAAA
Area 2 boys: Co-medalist Daniel McKenzie shot 71 to lead St. Pius to first place. Tripp Koenig (73), Stephen Kinsel (74), Max Muenchen (77) and Jack McDonald (77) led the Golden Lions to a 10-shot win over Oconee County. The Warriors were paced by Carter Huckaby with 72 and Dustin DeMersseman with 74.
Also qualifying for state were North Oconee, led by Garrison Britt’s 74, and Richmond Academy, led by co-medalist Jay Beach’s 71. Qualifying as individuals were the Thomson duo of Lucas Hopkins and Alex Gilliam.
Area 2 girls: Medalist Dorminy Johnson shot 83 to propel Burke County to first place. Stephens County, behind a 98 from Abby Akin, grabbed the other qualifying spot. Caroline Martin of Jefferson and Mady Wiley of Oconee County earned the two individual spots.
Area 3 boys: Jordan Secret and Braden Jones tied for medalist at 67 to help Marist win the title and qualify for state. Preston DeSantis and Andrew Lafferty added 72s for the War Eagles.
Woodward Academy was second behind a 73 from Joe Hewes and a 74 from Mitchell Kahlert. Blessed Trinity got a 73 from Jeremy Smith and finished third. Also qualifying was Eastside, which got a pair of 78s from Landon Farill and Griffin Autry. Chase Espinosa of West Hall and Drew McCullers of Luella qualified as individuals.
Area 3 girls: Woodward Accademy used a 72 from medalist Ayanna Habeel to win the team championship, with Susannah Cole adding an 82. Blessed Trinity was second behind a 74 from Hanna Jones and a 79 from Sara Leonard. Also moving on to the state meet is Marist, which got a 73 from Woo Wade, and White County, led by Carolina Craig's 78. West Hall's Olivia Young and Delaney Smith qualified as individuals.
Area 4 boys: Medalist Cole Ingram shot 71 and Gage Smith added a 75 to lead LaFayette to first place. LaGrange was the other qualifying team, as Preston Pelham shot a 77. Matthew Cleary of Southeast Whitfield and Jhett Lewis of Cedartown qualified as individuals.
Area 4 girls: Anisley Cowart shot 81 and Morgan Collins shot 83, finishing one-two among individuals, to help Central Carroll take first place.
Other teams that qualified were LaFayette, Heritage Catoosa, Cedartown and Northwest Whitfield. Katherine Densmore of Pickens and Blakely Arp of LaGrange qualified as individuals.
Class AAA
Area 3 girls: Union County, Franklin County, Hart County, Dawson County and Lumpkin County earned a place at the state meet. The co-medalists were Madison Horinek of Union County and Sydney Morgan of Dawson County with 83. North Hall's Annika Cain qualified as an individual.
Class AA
Area 4 boys: Elbert County got an 80 from medalist Tamar Burton to win the qualifier. Social Circle and Rabun County got the other two places.
Area 4 girls: Anna Williams shot 82 and Kia Williams added a 97 to spark Social Circle's winning effort. Elbert County and Oglethorpe County also advanced to state.
Class A Public
Area 2 boys: Charlton County used an 82 from Gage Lee to finish first by 59 shots. McIntosh County Academy and Emanuel County Institute also qualified. Vic Mincey of Jenkins County was the medalist with a 72 and qualified as an individual.
Area 2 girls: Portal, Charlton County and Telfair County each qualified for state. Portal's Faith Reddick was medalist with a 93 and teammate Layne Clark tied with Charlton's Juliana Johnson for second with a 94.
Area 3 boys Gordon Lee used a 79 from Tucker Windham to place first, with Drew Charter and Trion also moving on. Solomon Dobbs shot 81 for Drew Charter.
Medalist Ethan Jones of Mt. Zion shot 78 and advances as an individual, as does teammate Cody Sexton.
Area 3 girls: Macall Miller shot 79 to medal and lead Gordon Lee to first place. Drew Charter and Trion also qualified for state.
Area 4 boys: Blake Beggs shot 85 and Lincoln County finished first. Towns County, behind the 82 by medalist Will Travis, and Commerce also qualified. Medalist Ryan Smith of Lake Oconee Academy shot 83 and qualified as an individual.
Area 4 girls: Commerce finished first behind a 94 from McKenzie McRee. Kenzie Jenkins shot 84 to medal and help Towns County qualify. Georgia Military got the final qualifying spot.
Class A Private
Area 1 boys: Wesley Harrison shot 70 and Luke Dasher shot 71 to help First Presbyterian take the title. Brookstone, behind a 74 from Waker Hinds, was second, and Savannah Christian qualified third behind a 77 from Davis Bush. Mason Whatley of Aquinas and Thaddeus Wheeler of Calvary Day qualified as individuals.
Area 1 girls: Brookstone, Stratford Academy and First Presbyerian picked up the three qualifying spots. Josie Coleman of Stratford was medalist with a 79. Qualifying as an individual was Maddie Zimmerman of St. Anne-Pacelli.
Area 2 girls: Elisa Yang shot 66 to medal and lead Weslyan to a first-place finish. Tallulah Falls and George Walton Academy, which counted a 75 from Lucy Walker, also earned a place at state. Wynn Ivey of Athens Academy and Hope Hewatt of Prince Avenue Christian advanced as individuals.
Area 3 boys: Holy Innocents' took first place with a one-shot victory over Strong Rock Christian and two shots ahead of Mount Vernon.
Holy Innocents’ counted a 75 from Bailey Means, a 76 from Owen Malcolm, a 77 from Jeff Klopfenstein and a 78 from Nick Reddy. Strong Rock had a 75 from Logan Perkins, a pair of 77s from Nathan Sheets and Ashby Schwendinger and a 78 from Aaron Schwendinger. Charlie Reeves of Eagle’s Landing Christian and Drew Tanner from Landmark Christian advanced as individuals.
Area 3 girls: Emma King's 88 helped Holy Innocents' finish first. Landmark, behind medalist Cameron Daniels' 79, finished second. Also qualifying was Strong Rock Christian. Meghna Grover of Atlanta International and Jasmine Everett of Our Lady of Mercy advanced as individuals.
