For the third straight season, the Bremen girls have been perfect in Region 5-AA. The team has not even lost a set in three years of undefeated region play. The Blue Devils beat Temple in the region semifinals and topped Bowdon in the championship match.

Bremen is led by junior Charli Allen (8-5) at No. 1 singles, freshman Lucy Hughes Parrish (10-3) at No. 2 singles and four-year starter Emily Cheshier (12-2) at No. 3 singles. Cheshier earned the 50th win of her career last week against Columbus.

Senior Alexis Nappi and junior Elizabeth Knott are 10-4 at No. 1 doubles, a spot they’ve held for three years. The freshmen team of Rachel Forrister and Hannah Love are 7-1 at No. 2 doubles.

During the season Bremen finished second in the Peachtree Invitational, beating Class AAAAA McIntosh and Allatoona before losing to Class AAAAAA Roswell in the title game. The Blue Devils are 44-7 over the last three seasons under coach Heather Clark.

Brookwood sweeps in Region 8-AAAAAA

Brookwood’s boys and girls swept the Region 8-AAAAAA championships. The boys beat Parkview 3-2 in the final, while the girls beat Parkview 3-0.

The boys got wins from Zach Jennings and Bryan Pridgeon and clinched the title when Matt Blakely rallied to win in a tiebreaker. The girls, led by Clarissa Jolley and Avery Watson, won all three of their tournament matches by 3-0 counts.

Grayson was third and Shiloh was fourth in the boys tournament. Grayson was third and Dacula placed fourth in the girls tournament.

North Gwinnett girls capture Region 7-AAAAAA

After finishing second the last two years, the North Gwinnett girls finally got to the top, winning the Region 7-AAAAAA tournament. The Bulldogs beat Peachtree Ridge 3-1 in the championship match.

Freshman Emma Flemming and Meghan Poole won in singles for North Gwinnett and the team of Emma Etelalahti and Mimi Zhang won the clincher.

Norcross beat Mill Creek in the consolation match.

Tennis notes

Pace Academy beat Lovett to win the Region 6-AA boys championship. … The Region 3-AAAAA tournament is complete. The top four boys spots went to Camden County, Glynn Academy, South Effingham and Coffee. The top four girls spots went to Glynn Academy, Camden County, Coffee and South Effingham.
