St. Francis is the new No. 1 boys team in a balanced Class A. That’s the only change at the top of the AJC’s boys rankings entering the state tournament.
St. Francis won the tournament in 6-A, the toughest region in Class A. Second-ranked North Cobb Christian, the region runner-up is ranked No. 2. Whitefield Academy, ranked No. 1 after the regular season, is now No. 3 after losing to North Cobb Christian in the region-tournament semifinals. The Class A state tournament begins next week.
The only ranked team from last week that failed to make the state tournament was South Atlanta in AAAA. The Hornets, who have a victory this season over No. 1-ranked Columbia, lost in the Region 6-AAAA quarterfinals to Stone Mountain, ending their season.
