Colquitt County and Archer will enter their Class AAAAAA final next week as the highest-scoring state-playoff teams in modern GHSA history.

Colquitt County is averaging 53.0 points in its four playoff victories. Archer is averaging 50.2.

Colquitt and Archer are the first teams since 1996, when the GHSA expanded the state playoffs to five rounds, to score more than 200 points in route to the finals.

The Colquitt-Archer final also will be the first in GHSA history between teams that won their semifinals by 35 points or more. On Friday, Colquitt County beat McEachern 57-20, and Archer beat Etowah 52-7.

Only one other time has a final matched teams that won their semifinals by 30 or more. It occurred in 1957, when Acworth beat Menlo 40-2 and Waynesboro beat Monticello 31-0 in Class C.

The Colquitt-Archer game will be played Saturday at 8 p.m. in the Georgia Dome.
