Here’s a recap of some of the big stories in Class AAAAA from Week 10:

- Harris County (6-2, 4-0) took sole possession of first place in Region 1 with a 34-14 victory against Carver-Columbus, which had its 53-game winning streak in region games snapped. Harris County can clinch the second region title in school history (and second in three years) with a victory at home against LaGrange next weekend. Carver is tied with Northside-Columbus and LaGrange for second place with one region loss each. Carver’s last loss in a region game came against LaGrange in the eighth game of the 2006 season.

- Allatoona clinched the second region championship in the program’s seven-year history with a 48-20 victory against Paulding County in Region 5. The fourth-ranked Buccaneers (9-0, 8-0) have a week off before closing out the regular season against winless Chapel Hill. Alexander and South Paulding have clinched playoff berths, and the winner of their game next weekend will be the No. 2 seed. Fourth-year program New Manchester controls its fate for the fourth playoff berth but still has to face Alexander in the regular-season finale.

- A week after Drew moved into first place in Region 4 Division A, the Titans fell back out with a 43-30 loss to Northgate. The loss leaves Drew (6-2, 4-1) and Northgate (5-3, 4-1) a half-game behind Mundy’s Mill (6-3, 5-1), which completed its subregion schedule with a 33-16 victory against Starr’s Mill. Drew will still win the subregion if it beats McIntosh and Northgate loses to Starr’s Mill next weekend. If Drew and Northgate win, there will be a three-way tie for first place. The subregion winner will play in the region championship game on Nov. 7, most likely against Stockbridge.

- The picture for the play-in games in Region 7 is almost set, but there’s still some work to be done, particularly in Division B. Dalton has clinched the top spot in Division A and will play in the region championship game against the winner of next weekend’s Kell-Sprayberry game. The Kell-Sprayberry loser will be the No. 2 seed from Division B and play a winner-take-all play-in game against Sequoyah (Division B No. 3). Creekview (Division B No. 2) will face the winner of next weekend’s Cambridge-Forsyth Central game.
