Junior forward Bailey Minor, who led the Gainesville boys basketball team to first-place finishes in the regular season and the region tournament, has been chosen by the region's coaches as the player of the year in 8-AAAAAA.

The top honor on the girls' side was shared by Gainesville's Taylor Hawks and Habersham Central's Lainey Gosnell, who were named co-players of the year.

Hawks has signed with Jacksonville State, and Gosnell is an Appalachian State signee.
