For the second straight week, every ranked team in the Class AAA poll was victorious. That means you won’t see any movement in the rankings again.

Here are some of the highlights from Friday night:

Hart takes down Elbert

Not many teams can go into the Granite Bowl and come away happy, but that's exactly what Hart County did on Friday night.

The No. 9 Bulldogs played a strong first half and came away with a 19-7 win over Elbert County in a key Region 8-AAA game.

Hart County (5-0) scored all its points in the first half, but was to turn away several Elbert threats in the second half with its good defense, which limited the Blue Devils to 87 yards rushing and 226 yards of total offense.

Hart got a good night from quarterback Cameron Fouch, who completed 21 of 32 passes for 229 yards. Fouch threw a touchdown pass to P.J. Rucker and another to tight end Marterious Allen. Fouch also ran for a score.

Elbert's bright spot on offense was quarterback Turner Banks, who was starting in place of the injured Mecole Hardman. Banks completed 7 of 19 for 139 yards. Tra Barnett accounted for Elbert's only touchdown with a 2-yard run.

Central’s defense rules

No. 8 Central Carroll handed Class A No. 8 Landmark Christian its first loss of the season. The Lions again depended on its defense, which continued to create turnovers, and used big plays to get the job done on offense.

Quarterback Wesley Long broke two tackles to score on a 49-yard run and later threw a 69-yard touchdown pass to Jared Walker. Big Jayleen Terry scored the first touchdown on a 1-yard run.

Central has allowed only 13 points this season and is 5-0 for the first time since its state-championship season of 1987.

“We just continue to try to get better every day, that’s it,” Central coach Rico Zachary said. “The kids have worked hard. We knew it was going to be tough game. They have a great team with great coaches. They have a great program and they are used to winning and expect to win.”

Westminster runs over Therrell

No. 6 Westminster improved to 5-0 for the first time since 2003 with a 41-7 win over Therrell. The Wildcats ran for 256 yards, including 105 yards from Ian Ude. Quarterback Rankin Wooley ran for touchdowns of 2 and 17 yards and Zay Malcome had touchdown runs of 63 and 8 yards for the Cats.

The Westminster defense forced two turnovers and limited Therrell to 106 yards.

No troubles for Peach County

No. 5 Peach County seized the momentum when Tyrique McGhee returned a punt 80 yards for a touchdown in the first quarter, then rolled to a 49-7 win over Rutland.

The Trojans were led by quarterback Robert Allen, who completed 17 of 17 for 160 yards and two touchdowns, both to Saire Davis, who had five catches for 91 yards. Tailback Keyshawn Lowe carried nine times for 72 yards and two touchdowns.

Big second half for Calhoun

The No. 2 Calhoun Yellow Jackets found themselves trailing 10-7 at halftime, but dominated the final two quarters for a 27-13 win over Ringgold. Calhoun amassed 413 yards, 244 in the second half.

Kile Sholl had 176 all-purpose yards and one touchdown and Olico Dennis ran eight times for 61 yards. Quarterback Kaelen Riley scored on a 3-yard run to give the Jackets the lead and Cole Jackson scored on a 3-yard run to complete a drive that started after a forced fumble.

Ringgold quarterback Devin Lancaster threw for 197 yards. The Tigers forced four turnovers, but couldn’t turn any of them into points.

Jefferson handles its neighbor

No. 4 Jefferson improved to 5-0 by manhandling neighboring Jackson County 34-7. The Dragons had 300 yards of offense and led 34-0 at halftime,  before taking their foot off the gas in the second half.

Running back Sammy Williams ran for 139 yards and scored on runs of 34, 31 and 7 yards. Quarterback Evan Shirreffs completed 11 of 17 for 179 yards and two touchdowns, both to Dalton Hill.

Saints make a statement

Cedar Grove is looking to get back into the state rankings. The Saints (4-1) won their third straight, a 46-12 victory of Jackson, as Labron Morris ran 33 times for 270 yards and three touchdowns. He had 18 runs of 7 yards or longer.

Cedar Grove’s Labron Morris had a career day, posting 270 rushing yards and three touchdowns on 33 carries to lead the Saints to a 46-12 win over Jackson-Atlanta on Friday.

Oconee Co. improves to 5-0
