--The top-ranked and undefeated Redan girls host Washington tonight, before traveling to Columbia on Saturday for a game that most believe will decide Region 6-AAAA.

In the first game against Columbia, Redan jumped out to a 22-point halftime lead, but had to hold on in the second half for a 75-74 win.

Redan (16-0) is the only undefeated AAAA team, according to the GHSA region standings. Columbus and Cross Creek each have only one loss.

--Mary Persons’ Keke Calloway hit seven 3-pointers on her way to a 38-point performance in an 80-67 win over West Laurnes on Tuesday. The Bulldogs are tied with Rutland atop Region 2-AAAA, but already own a road win over the Hurricanes. The two teams meet at Mary Persons on Jan. 24. Mary Persons is at Westside tonight. Rutland is at Veterans tonight.

--The top-ranked Columbia boys host Therrell tonight. The Eagles won three straight state titles (2010-2012) and are in the mix again. Columbia (12-1) has won four consecutive games, since suffering its only loss to Tucker (No. 3 in AAAAA) in a holiday tournament.

--Defending-champion Eagle’s Landing, under first-year coach Eric Wortham, has won six straight games and is in control of Region 4-AAAA at 9-0 and 13-3 overall. The Eagles host Stockbridge tonight.

--Alexander’s boys continued their hot start Tuesday, with a 73-56 win over Carrollton. The Cougars, who entered the rankings at No. 8 this week, are in first place in a tough Region 5-AAAA that features three ranked teams. Alexander beat No. 10 Sandy Creek in triple-overtime last week. The Cougars host Columbus tonight and are at Lithia Springs on Saturday. Alexander caps a three-game-in-four-nights stretch at No. 2 Fayette Count on Tuesday.
