Schniederjans projecting to make U.S. Open cut
Former Georgia Tech golfer Ollie Schniederjans appears to have made the cut at the U.S. Open at Chambers Bay in University Place, Wash.
Schniederjans, who completed his Tech career earlier in June, stands at 2-over par after two rounds, tied for 29th at 10:08 p.m. EDT. With players still on the course, the projected cut for the final two rounds was 4-over. The top 60 players plus ties will stay to play on the weekend. Results can be tracked here.
After shooting a 1-under 69 on Thursday, Schniederjans gave three strokes back to par on Friday with a 73. He was, however, four shots above par for the round after four holes before playing the final 14 in 1-under.
Schniederjans projects to be one of six amateurs to make the cut.
Tech great Matt Kuchar also looked safe to make the cut shortly after 10 p.m.; he was 1-over par (T21) with two holes remaining. Cameron Tringale was hanging on at 4-over, right on the cut line, with two holes remaining. Roberto Castro was tied for 81st at 6-over, his round complete.
Television coverage will begin at 2 p.m. EDT Saturday and run through 10 p.m. on Fox. On Sunday, final-round coverage begins at 2 p.m. and ends at 10:30 p.m.
