Georgia Tech B-back C.J. Leggett is not expected to play in Friday night’s spring game. Posts from his social-media accounts suggest a setback due to injury.

Leggett, a redshirt freshman who has practiced with the first-string offense, wrote on his Instagram account Thursday, later deleted, that he was to have an MRI that day.

The same day, a post on his Twitter account indicated the MRI did not go as hoped.

A severe injury would put the B-back position under duress. Early-enrollee B-back Quaide Weimerskirch, seen as a potential backup to Leggett this season, suffered a foot injury that required surgery and has put his availability for the fall in jeopardy. For now, Tech has two B-backs, walk-on Brady Swilling, who moved from quarterback this spring, and Marcus Allen, who came to Tech as a B-back in 2012 but later moved to linebacker and then wide receiver. He was shifted to B-back mid-spring after Weimerskirch’s injury.

Tech may receive a graduate transfer, Stanford senior fullback Patrick Skov, who could play B-back and be eligible immediately. Skov is on campus for a visit this week. The visit was first reported by Jackets Online. Having a player with considerable college experience would almost certainly be preferable over other options, namely playing a first-year freshman. Two other incoming freshmen besides Weimerskirch, Mikell Lands-Davis and Marcus Marshall, are scheduled to arrive this summer.
