Former Georgia Tech center Shayla Bivins will be honored at the women’s Final Four Sunday in Nashville, Tenn. Bivins was named to the 10-player team for her work in the community. Among other things, Bivins has been involved in the girls running program Girls on the Run, the Atlanta 2-Day Walk for Breast Cancer, the Jacket-to-Jacket reading program and the Michael Isenhour Toy Drive.
Bivins also served as the president of Tech’s student-athlete advisory board, was chosen to the ACC honor roll four times and was one of two players to serve on an NCAA committee regarding issues in women’s basketball.
Bivins was also awarded the Charles T. Stoner Law Scholarship by the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association, given to a women’s college basketball player who intends to pursue a career in la, and was one of three Tech athletes to receive a postgraduate scholarship from the ACC (along with football player Will Jackson and softball player Alysha Rudnik).
