The state’s commuter bus service will phase out magnetic tickets in favor of MARTA’s Breeze Card beginning this summer.

Currently, Xpress bus customers can use cash, Breeze Cards and magnetic tickets to pay their fares. Xpress will no longer sell magnetic tickets after Aug. 31, and no magnetic tickets will be accepted on coaches after Dec. 31. Fares will not increase.

The State Road and Tollway Authority says the move will make boarding faster and provide a quicker, more secure payment system to passengers. The MARTA Breeze Card is also accepted by CobbLinc and Gwinnett County Transit.

“Moving to Breeze is part of our efforts to build a better regional transit experience for our riders,” said Chris Tomlinson, SRTA’s executive director.

SRTA provides commuter bus service from 12 suburban counties to downtown and Midtown Atlanta and the Perimeter Center area. For more information, visit www.xpressga.com.
