Weekend traffic complicated by I-285 closures

As wet weather pushes into metro Atlanta this weekend, drivers can expect an even more difficult ride because of road work.

If you thought last week was a nightmare, weekend work along I-20 and I-285 may eclipse that.

As usual, expect heavy delays along I-75 with work on the express lanes.

Here are your trouble spots:

Northwest Corridor Express Lanes

I-75

One northbound lane will close just before and after Wade Green Road from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Saturday.

Two northbound lanes and one southbound lane will close between Delk Road and South Marietta Parkway from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Saturday.

One southbound lane will close between South Marietta Parkway and Delk Road from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.

One southbound lane will close just before and at North Marietta Parkway from 8 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Saturday.

Two southbound lanes will close between Windy Hill Road and Cumberland Boulevard from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Saturday.

One northbound lane will close between Cumberland Boulevard and the I-285 interchange from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Saturday.

I-575

One northbound and one southbound lane will close between Barrett Parkway and the I-75 interchange from 8 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Saturday.

One lane will close on the northbound on-ramp from Chastain Road from 9:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and again on Sunday.

The southbound on-ramp shoulder from Bells Ferry Road will close from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.

 I-285

One lane will close on the eastbound on-ramp from Cobb Parkway from 9:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.

South Metro Express Lanes

I-75

Up to two northbound lanes will close between Jodeco and Flippen roads and Hudson Bridge Road from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Saturday.

One southbound lane will close at Jonesboro Road from 9 p.m. Friday to 7 a.m. Saturday.

One northbound lane will close at Jonesboro Road from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Saturday.

One northbound lane will close between Hampton and Jonesboro roads from 9 p.m. Friday to 7 a.m. Saturday. The lane closure will also take place from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

I-85 Express Lanes Extension

I-85

One northbound and one southbound lane will close just before and after the Ga. 20 interchange from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Saturday.

I-985

One northbound lane will close from the I-85 interchange for 0.5 miles from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Saturday.

I-285

The I-285 northbound off-ramp to Hollowell Parkway will close from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday. Motorists traveling on I-285 northbound to Hollowell Parkway can take I-20 westbound to Fulton Industrial Boulevard, make a right and continue on Fulton Industrial Boulevard to Hollowell Parkway.

The I-285 northbound and southbound ramps to I-20 westbound will close from 9 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday and from 9 p.m. Monday to 5 a.m. Tuesday. Motorists traveling on I-285 northbound to I-20 westbound can take Hollowell Parkway, make a left off the exit, continue to Fulton Industrial Boulevard, make a left and continue to I-20 westbound.

Drivers along I-285 southbound to I-20 westbound can take the Martin Luther King Jr. Drive exit, make a right, continue to Fulton Industrial Boulevard, make a right and continue to I-20 westbound.

Two northbound and two southbound lanes will close just before and after Atlanta Road from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Saturday.

One northbound lane will close between Glenwood Road and the Indian Creek MARTA Station from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.

The I-285 westbound ramp to I-75 southbound in Clayton County will narrow to allow crews to repair the guard rail from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.

I-20

All eastbound and westbound lanes will close at Moreland Avenue from 6 a.m. until 8 a.m. Sunday to allow crews to pull utilities across the interstate. The work will require drivers to reduce speeds between 5 mph and 10 mph.

Two westbound lanes and a shoulder will close between the I-285 interchange and just after Thornton Road from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.

Up to three eastbound lanes will close between Six Flags Parkway and Hamilton E. Holmes from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.

Crews will resurface the I-285 northbound and southbound ramp shoulders to I-20 eastbound from 4 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday. The ramp will remain open during the work.

Downtown Connector

One lane will close on the I-75/I-85 northbound exit ramp to 10th and 14th streets near Georgia Tech (Exit No. 250) from 9 p.m. Friday to 8 a.m. Saturday.

One lane will close on the I-75/I-85 northbound exit ramp to 17th Street (Exit No. 251A) and two northbound lanes and a shoulder will close between University Avenue and Freedom Parkway from 9 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday.

I-75

Two northbound lanes and shoulder will close at Old Dixie Highway from 9 p.m. Friday to 9 a.m. Saturday.

I-85

Two northbound lanes will close between Riverdale Road and Virginia Avenue nightly from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Saturday. The lanes will close again 9 p.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Sunday. A final closure will take place 9 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday.

Georgia (State Route) 400

One northbound lane will close between Peachtree Parkway and MacFarland Parkway from 9 p.m. Friday to noon Monday.

The southbound on-ramp to the MARTA North Springs Station will partially close from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Other State Routes

On Winder Highway, one northbound and one southbound lane will close between Stanley Court and the Barrow County line from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Saturday. Lanes will close again from 9 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday.

On Northside Drive, all lanes will close between 10th Street and Marietta Street from 7:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday.

On Main Street in Alpharetta, one lane will close between Academy Street and the Forsyth County line from 9 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday.

On Alpharetta Street, there will be scattered lane closures between Cherry Way and Norcross Street from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday.

On Lavista Road, one southbound lane will close between I-285 and Briarcliff Road from 8 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday.
