Georgia Department of Driver Services is offering new motorcycle safety training programs that are aimed at reducing rider fatalities.
Three levels of motorcycle training are available for new and seasoned riders to learn how to ride legally and safely. In the basic rider's course, both a motorcycle and a helmet are provided to participants.
Upon completion, participants receive a 90-day license waiver card that exempts them from the written and on-cycle skills tests needed to obtain a Class M license in Georgia.
The second level, Basic Rider Course 2, fine-tunes experienced riders' mental/operational skills needed for survival in traffic.
The third level, the Advanced Rider’s Course (ARC), focuses on developing more complex self-assessment and personal risk management skills. The second- and third-level courses require participants to bring their own motorcycle and equipment.
