Fulton County mayors will soon finalize plans to expand mass transit in Georgia’s largest county. But there’s still time to have your say.
The county is conducting an online survey of Fulton residents to gauge their interest in a variety of transit options, including heavy and light rail, bus rapid transit and frequent local bus service. The survey will close Oct. 31.
Once it’s done, the county will develop proposals for specific projects on specific routes. For example, early survey results show north Fulton residents are eager for a MARTA rail and/or bus rapid transit extension up Ga. 400 at least to Holcomb Bridge Road. South Fulton residents are interested in rail or bus rapid transit lines on South Fulton Parkway, I-85 and other areas.
The county plans to finalize its plans in December, with public hearings on the specifics scheduled to begin in January. Voters would get the final say on the package, probably next November.
