Power outage strikes Disneyland ahead of UGA, Oklahoma team visit

Anaheim, Calif. - With  University of Georgia head football coach Kirby Smart Oklahoma head coach Lincoln Riley and players from each team arriving for a pre-Rose Bowl event the cast members, as all employees are called, at Disneyland had things running like a top.

Rows of perfectly aligned chairs were set up underneath a brilliant neon sign heralding the event. Expertly arranged bouquets of roses flanked the stage area where athletes would soon appear. Fans in UGA and Sooner gear eagerly swarmed around as the hour grew near.

And then the power went out.

"We have experienced a power outage near Mickey's Toontown and Fantasyland. We are working diligently to restore power to the affected areas as soon as possible," the park's official support account posted via Twitter.

This tweet, posted before the problem arose, didn't age particularly well:

Within hours people were fuming that their day at the attraction had been wrecked. One guest described the misery of being stuck for an hour on the Monorail:

This guy was stuck on "It's a Small World," which may have been less physically unpleasant than being trapped on a stuffy Monorail, but was irritating nonetheless. The music never stopped playing, he posted in a subsequent tweet.

Many guests took to social media expressing irritation at the price of admission given what happened after they arrived and hoping for refunds:

Disney reps said it was a temporary glitch and things would be up and running soon, but stopped accepting guests into the main park who weren't already on property.

"Disneyland Park is currently only accepting Guests for re-entry at this time," the official account posted. "Disney California Adventure Park remains available for your enjoyment.  Updates to follow."

The impact was limited and everything worked just fine in the area where the Rose Bowl event took place.

Still, customers weren't thrilled.
