Cardi B embraced the spirit of legendary Latin singer Carmen Miranda at Tuesday night’s 2018 American Music Awards, with her husband Offset complementing her in a dapper burgundy suit and bling.
The 25-year-old rapper, who won the 2018 AMA for best hip-hop artist, offered a floral, dazzling look as she walked the AMA red carpet and performed her Billboard hit “I Like It,” alongside Bad Bunny and J Balvin.
Offset did not hit the AMA stage in Los Angeles to perform, but he did make an appearance with Migos bandmate Quavo to scoop up their AMA for favorite duo or group in the pop/rock category. The “T-shirt” rappers were up against rock groups like Maroon 5 and Imagine Dragons. Some online commentators were perplexed about why the group was listed in the “pop/rock” category.
In a joint Instagram post, Cardi B and Offset thanked Dolce & Gabbana for creating the couple’s stunning looks for the award night. Cardi gushed about the fits, describing them as “absolutely perfect.”
