UPDATE: The Hawks selected Wake Forest sophomore power forward John Collins with the 19th pick. Story here.
Who you got?
The Hawks, as of this morning at least, have three picks on tonight's NBA Draft - Nos. 19, 41 and 60. As I have written several times, new general manager Travis Schlenk will draft based on the best player available over need.
"You draft the best talent available regardless who is on your roster," Schlenk said recently. "I think that’s when you get in trouble, when you draft off need not off talent. Especially the way the league is going where guys are interchangeable and guys are multi-positional, you just take the best player."
Here are five players I think the Hawks could take at No. 19. I, quite frankly, still don't know the draft deep enough to speculate who the Hawks might take at No. 41. I'm under the impression that No. 60, if made, will be a draft-and-stash. I'll have an explainer next week on how the G-League plays into all of this as well.
*Justin Jackson, SF, North Carolina
*Jarrett Allen, C, Texas
*Ike Anigbogu, C, UCLA
*OG Anunoby, SF, Indiana
*Justin Patton, C, Creighton
I will be reporting from Hawks Draft Headquarters tonight. This year it will be at a local hotel due to the construction at Philips Arena. I'll get as much information as possible and, hopefully, we'll have initial interviews with those selected as well.
Here we go. Who would you like to see the Hawks select?
