UPDATE: Falcons release Malone, sign Chester

UPDATE: The  Falcons announced the signing of offensive guard Chris Chester on Saturday.

Chester, 6-3, 303,  was drafted by the Ravens in the second round (56th overall) of the 2006 draft. He spent five seasons with the Ravens and saw action in 73 games with 47 starts. He was signed by the Redskins as a free agent in July of 2011.

Over his four seasons stint with the Redskins, Chester started all 64 games. In 2013, he blocked for a rushing attack that gained 2,164 yards, which was the fifth best rushing mark in the NFL.

FLOWERY BRANCH -- Falcons waived rookie Linebacker Derrick Malone on Friday, according to the NFL transactions.

Malone signed on with the Falcons as an undrafted free agent out of Oregon back in early May.

The Falcons are also set to sign offensive lineman Chris Chester, who worked out for the team on Friday. He was recently cut by the Washington Redskins,
