5 things we learned about the Falcons on Thursday

FLOWERY BRANCH -- Here are the five things we learned Thursday about the Falcons (7-7), who host Carolina (14-0)  at 1 p.m. Sunday at the Georgia Dome. The Falcons snapped their six-game losing streak with a 23-17 victory over Jacksonville on Sunday.

1. COLEMAN SUFFERS CONCUSSION -- Falcons running back Tevin Coleman, the team's second-leading rusher, slipped in the shower and suffered a concussion on Wednesday. He's now in the concussion protocol program, coach Dan Quinn said on Thursday.

2. DIMITROFF BACKER STEPS FORWARD -- Channel 2's sports director Zach Klein wrote an open letter to owner Arthur Blank in support of general manager Thomas Dimitroff.

3. RYAN CRACKS TOP 10: The Atlanta Journal-Constitution is counting down the Top 50 players in Atlanta Falcons history during the franchise's 50th anniversary season. No. 7 is quarterback Matt Ryan.

4. PLAYOFF UPDATE: The Falcons have a 1.4 percent chance to make the playoffs. They must win out to start the calculations.

5. A PEEK INTO THE FUTURE: Here are five young Falcons to keep an eye on down over the final two games.
