FLOWERY BRANCH — Here's what we learned on Friday about the Falcons (5-1), who play the Tennessee Titans (1-4) at 1 p.m. Sunday at Nissan Stadium in Nashville.

  1.  Metternberger to start. Former Georgia and LSU quarterback Zach Mettenberger will start against the Falcons. He appeared in seven games last season, starting six. He completed 59.8 percent of his passes for 1,412 yards, eight touchdowns, seven interceptions and had an 84.4 passer rating. He was 0-6 as a starter. Also, wide receiver Harry Douglas (ribs) is out for the Titans.
  2. Trying to be special. After having a punt blocked against the Saints, the Falcons special teams are hoping to rebound against the Titans. They will rally behind punter Matt Bosher, who leads the league with a 50.9 gross average. The have committed nine penalties on special teams, had a punt blocked and missed two field goals.   3. Freestyle Friday. William Moore reported that Freestyle Fridays is on hiatus. He said he was working on writing some lyrics with hopes bringing back a Friday locker room show.
  4. Justin Durant update. He's probable for the game and is expected to play. Coach Dan Quinn wanted to see if he had any problems with tackling with a brace on his left arm.
  5. Mike Person update. Center Mike Person is also listed as probable and is expected to play. He's coming back from an ankle injury he suffered against Washington and caused him to miss the Saints' game.
