FLOWERY BRANCH

-- Here are five things you need to know Wednesday about the Falcons (6-6), who play at Carolina (12-0)  at 1 p.m. Sunday at Bank of America Stadium.

1. PRACTICE TODAY:  The Falcons have a morning walk-through followed by practice that is scheduled to start at 1:05 p.m. Falcons coach Dan Quinn will be at the podium before practice at 12:05 p.m. Defensive coordinator Richard Smith will speak after practice. It will be interesting to get his take on the rash of missed tackles over the past two games.

2. RYAN TO SPEAK: Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan will speak at the podium after practice.

3. COVER 9@9 BLOG:

4. GODFREY HAS SOME SCOOP: Falcons safety Charles Godfrey was a former starter with the Carolina Panthers. He'll be a popular man this week.

5. PRACTICE SQUAD MOVES: The Falcons signed safety Terrance Parks to the practice squad and waived cornerback T.J. Heath from the practice squad. They also waived defensive tackle Ricky Havili-Heimuli off of injured reserve. Parks, 6-2, 218 pounds, was originally signed by the Kansas City Chiefs as a undrafted rookie free agent following the 2012 NFL draft out of Florida State. He spent time in the Canadian Football League with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in 2013. In 2014, he spent time with Seattle and Houston.
