Report: Falcons put in claim for tight end Tim Wright

June 15, 2015

FLOWERY BRANCH -- Tampa Bay claimed tight End Tim Wright off waivers after he was released by the New England Patriots.

The Bucs, who had traded Wright to the Patriots last season, had priority based on last season's records.

The Falcons. Jets, Bears, Browns, Dolphins, Saints, Lions, Steelers and Chiefs also put in claims for Wright, according to Field Yates of ESPN.

Jacob Tamme, Tont Moeaki, Levine Toilolo, Mickey Shuler and Beau Gardner are the tight ends currently on the Falcons' roster.

The Falcons were likely attracted to Wright's proficiency in the redzone.

Wright, 6-foot-4 and 220 pounds, caught 54 of 76 targets for 571 yards and five touchdowns as a rookie with Tampa Bay in 2013. Last season, he caught 26 of 33 targets for 259 yards and six touchdowns.
