MOBILE, Ala. – Falcons general manager Thomas Dimitroff and new assistant general manager Scott Pioli did an interview with the team’s flagship station, 790TheZone before talking to the media group.
Former Falcons Dave Archer and Alge Crumpler conducted the radio station interview (some of the video above), but they broke into smaller interview sessions with the print and digital media.
Here are some excerpts:
DIMITROFF: Scott and I talked about working together again for some time. I’ve learned a lot from him as a mentor and a co-worker and friend. We’ve spent a lot of time talking about football over the years. This is just a great opportunity for ScotT Pioli to join us and help bolster the staff not only from a personnel standpoint, but to become a very integral and important part…..”
PIOLI: I just needed some new gear
PIOLI ON HIS YEAR AWAY: I was able to do some things in the media and understand some of the things that I didn’t understand before. . . . This year away has been great on many levels.
DIMITROFF ON LOSING LES SNEAD AND DAVID CALDWELL: Scott is one of the best football men in this league. To have an opportunity to have him sit at the table and provide insight, it’s great on so many levels. Not only for all of the successes that Scott has had, but also the challenges that he’s had. This isn’t just about personnel, it’s about building a football team.
PIOLI: There’s already a lot of good football people here. The other thing is that Lionel Vital is here. We all worked together 100 years ago in Cleveland and then in New England. We all know our strengths and limitations.
