FLOWERY BRANCH – ESPN draft analyst Mel Kiper released his second mock draft today and has the Falcons selecting Oregon defensive end Arik Armstead with the eighth overall pick in the 2015 draft.
Armstead, who’s 6-foot-7 and 285 pounds, fits the team’s new profile for defensive ends.
“We don’t necessarily just talk about rushers just as (defensive) ends,” coach Dan Quinn said. “It’s tackles, too. It’s all four of those guys working in concert together. Speed and length are the factors that we look for first.”
At 6-foot-7, Armstead has the length.
