PHOENIX – New England offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels, who was interviewed by the Atlanta Falcons, wants to become an NFL head coach again some day.

“I was very fortunate to have a chance to meet them,” McDaniels said on Tuesday. “I was very impressed with Mr. (Arthur) Blank, Scott (Pioli), Thomas (Dimitroff) and Rich McKay.”

McDaniels was thought to be the forerunner early in the Falcons’ coaching search. But the team is set to name Seattle defensive coordinator Dan Quinn as their new head coach after Super Bowl XLIX.

“Everybody did a great job with their presentation and with what they were looking for,” McDaniels said. “It was a great opportunity to get to know them. Fortunately, for us we are still playing, which is a good thing. I wish them the best of luck. It was a great opportunity. I was glad that I did it.”

McDaniels interview with the Falcons during New England’s bye week before they played the Baltimore Ravens in the divisional round of the AFC playoffs.

He also interviewed for the San Francisco opening.
