Josh Freeman had better record than Jameis Winston after 48 starts

Bucs former No. 1 overall pick is too careless with the ball
Oct 29, 2018

The Buccaneers benched quarterback Jameis Winston after he threw four interceptions in the 37-34 loss to the Bengals on Sunday.

Winston has not progressed. He either hasn’t learned how to read pro defenses or is just too careless with the ball.

Winston is 19-29 after 48 starts. Former Bucs quarterback Josh Freeman was 21-27 after 48 starts ending in 2012.

Overall, Freeman started 59 games for the Bucs and had a 24-35 record. Freeman, who was selected 17th overall in the 2009 draft, had cups of coffee with the Vikings and Colts before bouncing out of the league.

Winston was selected No. 1 overall in the 2015 draft and has been a disappointment.

We pondered the question if Winston was the next Freeman last December.

It’s look like that’s a discredit to Mr. Freeman.

The Falcons would not be happy to see Freeman benched. He tossed them two interceptions in the red zone in the 34-29 win on Oct. 14.

The Falcons play at the Bucs in the regular-season finale on Dec. 30.
