FLOWERY BRANCH – The Falcons were in Coral Gables, Florida over the weekend to check out several of the Miami Hurricane prospects.
Coach Dan Quinn reiterated the point that the team prefers these private workouts over Pro Day visits when he talked to the media on Thursday.
“I enjoy that a little bit better just because you have the ability to connect more one-on-one with the players,” said Quinn, who was given final say over the roster. “Some of the Pro Days, so many people are there and it’s so busy that it’s really like another version of the combine. When you get a chance to do (a private workout) with a player individually . . . When we have those opportunities to go visit with guys individually it makes all the difference as you could imagine.
“You just get more time to connect with the player and find out if this is the right fit for both sides.”
The players the Falcons worked out included:
Phillips Dorsett, wide receiver
Anthony Chickillo, defensive lineman
Clive Walford, tight end
Duke Johnson, running back
Ladarius Gunter, defensive back
Ereck Flowers, offensive line
Linebacker Denzel Perryman didn’t work out, but did meet with the team.
