FLOWERY BRANCH – After the latest round of deals, the Falcons are $23,780,200 million under the salary cap, according to NFLPA documents.

The Falcons have 63 players under contract, with a $2,845,290 previous year carryover, cap number $122,468,615, and cap room of $23,780,200, according to NFLPA documents.

A lot of fans what to know why the Falcons have been so prudent during free agency with their cap space.  Columnist Jeff Schultz talked to coach Dan Quinn and general manager Thomas Dimitroff and they are "confident" in their approach.

The Falcons signed linebacker Brooks Reed to a five-year deal worth $22 million.

Linebacker Justin Durant signed a three-year deal, possibly worth $10.8 million through incentives.

Offensive lineman Mike Person signed a three-year deal worth $4.1 million through incentives.

Wide receiver Leonard Hankerson was signed to a one-year, $1 million contract.

Defensive end Adrian Clayborn was signed to a one-year, $4.5 million contract.

Defensive end O’Brien Schofield was signed to an undisclosed contract.

Cornerback Phillip Adams was signed to a one-year, $745,000 contract.

Also, Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported that tight end Lance Kendricks turned down a more lucrative offer from the Falcons to return to the Rams.

The Falcons, who didn’t match more lucrative offers for linebacker Sean Weatherspoon (one-year, $4 million) and defensive tackle Corey Peters (three-years, $10.5 million).

However, the free agency deal that’s troubling for them in the deal that wide receiver Jeremy Maclin landed with the Kansas City Chiefs. Maclin reached a five-year deal worth $55 million with $22.5 million guaranteed.

Jones is set to make $10.176 million in the last year of his five-year contract.

If Jeremy Maclin is worth $11 million per year, what will the Falcons have to pay wide receiver Julio Jones?
